Dental Veneers Procedure
Everyone smiles when they’re happy, but what if you aren’t happy with your smile? Dental Veneers are a great option for those wanting a permanent solution to their smile needs. Veneers can help make your smile more confident and genuine. Higginbotham Family Dental offers veneers in-house, contact us for a consultation at our offices in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri.
What are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are tooth-like caps placed on the front (visible) side of the tooth. Unlike cosmetic dental crowns, which can go over an entire tooth or molar, veneers are usually placed on the front-facing teeth. They act as your real tooth, you can feel comfortable eating and drinking as you would with your natural teeth. Veneers can be used in a smile makeover to give your teeth a new shape and color! Our dental veneers can be shaped to be better versions of your natural teeth or customized to create your dream smile!
Is the Procedure Painful?
The placement of veneers is not generally painful and there is no anesthesia required. When dental veneers are placed, a thin layer of enamel is removed to make room for the veneer cap. There can be some discomfort during the removal of the enamel, but it should not be severe. Patients should talk with their dentist about their level of sensitivity during the consultation and prior to placement. We offer different forms of Sedation Dentistry to make you feel your best during all dental procedures!
What is the Procedure?
Before receiving veneers, your dentist will take a mold of your mouth so that the Veneers will be as natural as your real teeth. The mold will also help when deciding if you want a new shape to your teeth. The teeth that are receiving veneers will be sanded down slightly, along with removing the top layer of enamel. You will first be given temporary veneers until your permanent veneers are complete from the lab. Once your veneers are ready, your dentist will place each individual veneer to properly align into place.
Who Should get Treatment?
Anyone looking for a smile makeover would be interested in this cosmetic service. However, veneers may not be a great option for everyone, it essentially depends on your bite. If you receive dental veneers and your bite is not aligned, they can easily chip, especially if you grind your teeth at night. They can help change the shape of your smile as well as the color. Veneers are usually placed on the front-facing teeth that are used in your smile. They can hide discoloration, chipped teeth, and add fullness to your smile
Are they Permanent?
Yes, dental veneers are permanent, you do not need to take them out to eat or drink – they are cemented to your natural tooth. Veneers can last for many years, with the proper care.
